Dogs and ownership - please advise?
So about three weeks ago, I had this dog wandering onto my property once per day. No tags... So I put out some food for him, and he kept coming back. The family loved him, so about a week ago, I decided to take him in.
Well not sooner than yesterday did a guy show up at my door saying that it was his. Well, at this point I figured that it's finder's keepers. His kid was crying and I felt bad, but I told him that if he weren't such a stupid head jerkface for letting the dog go, then he would still have it. And I suggested that the kid take a lesson from this. Also I told him that it was pretty obvious that at this point the dog loved my kids more than it did him.
Well the father flipped out and now, he is threating legal action... He doesn't really have a case does he?
If so, is there a way to let the dog decide who it wants to live with? Because he would pick me... If not, any idea what the penalty would be if I stole him back?
Are you serious? NOT.....YOUR.....DOG. If you want a dog, go buy one or adopt one. I can't believe you.
