Looking for the name of a doll/action figure toy from the 70's.?

It was a large doll/action figure (12-13" tall). It had electronics in him with functions like an alarm that went off when someone passed in front of a sensor in his helmet. He was red and yellow if memory serves. I believe he also had a cape. Looking back, I'm pretty sure he was based on a Japenese character. This was given to me sometime in the '76-'78 timeframe. Actually, the toy in the film Jingle All The Way kind of reminds me of him
