What are some pros and cons to genetically engineering foods and cloning?
I have to write an essay in my biology class on my stance on wether im for or against it, but before i write it, id like to know more about it and what you personally think is good about it and what is bad...
Seems to me humans have been bioengineering since the beginning of agriculture. Have not all farmers always wanted bigger yields, with full nutritious content? That's a better fed village or in today's terms - more money. They have selected carefully over time the best ones for seed and replanting, over generation upon generation. You think the corn we have now is anything like the pilgrims had? of course not. When plant's start slappin' ya upside the head, then we have a problem. (attempt at levity)
some pros are better yields, cheaper food, healthier food, better storage, better tolerance of insects and bacteria.
Cons may include more food to an already over sized populace, a runnaway genetic storm of failed experiments let loose upon the fertile fields of gold we now call the breadbasket of america. (ok pedro, are you happy?)
