Isn't It possible that the Bible is just a really good book someone found 1000's of years ago?
Ok, first let me say i'm not trying to step on anyones religion, I just want to see what the public thinks.
Does anyone else think that the Bible could just be this really good book (no pun intended) that someone came across 1000's of years ago. The person who found it maybe enjoyed them so much that they though it was based on a true story, because of the view its written from perhaps. Maybe Jesus is a really good charcter in a series of novels.
a second question, do you think (religion not withstanding) that the Bible sounds like a really elaborate fantasy story, like Harry Potter or LOTR?
When I was in seminary we were taught that the Bible was/is
stories based on true events. The stories were sometimes passed down for generations and it is thought changed as it passed from person to person. Also the original scripts that the Bible is written from, had to be translated so it is not a word for word translation.

But I feel there was a man named Jesus who walked the earth, that had other men that followed him, and he gave us "rules" to live by. I believe that he did die at the hand of rulers that were frightened by his popularity.
I wouldn't put in the same catagory as Harry Potter or LOTR, I feel the stories are 100% factual, but great leassons to be learned.
