Remember that while you’ve keeping yourself in limbo with regard to your ex, they could have focused on getting over the break up. Approaching them for reconciliation when you’re not completely sure you want them back can be cruel, especially if they took news of the break up rather hard. And even if you are constantly thinking about how to get back your man, remember he is your ex, and it is no good kidding yourself that you can act in quite the same around him now that you have split up, as you could when you were together. You do need to face up to reality a little, even if doing so can be a harsh wake up call.

It is ok to take some time apart, and you definitely don't want to be pushy or needy. That is a big turn off. But you should at least make some effort to come up with some strategies to get your courtship back on track sooner rather then later and figure out how you can win back love. If you don't, then he will eventually move on, and a couple of years down the line you may not even be in touch with him anymore, as people don't tend to stay in close touch with exes, even if they say stock break up lines like, "Let's Be Friends!!" The truth is that they won't follow through on it. So this really is all or nothing.

Remember that it’s possible that they don’t really want to talk to you, although you really want to talk to them. So you will need to assess each situation on its own merits before gaily plowing in and acting as though nothing has happened. There are always reasons for breakups, even if you don't like to admit them to yourself, and so you would do well to remember that. In any case it doesn't have to be a big stumbling block, it is simply something that you should realise. An ex is still different from a boyfriend, even if you wish it wasn't so!

Though you may need to change your ideas of how to move forward around a bit as time goes on to take account of changing circumstances. You will nevertheless be served better by doing some up front thinking. Remember when you first met him and how you dressed and acted and those are the same things to do if you want to get him back. Use those things when you meet him. Remember, you can’t change him. Only he can change himself. And you may not even want him to change, but having a realistic assessment of who he is, and who you are will serve you better then blindly rushing to get him back.

If you think back to the first period when you were with your ex, then realise that you have lived without him before! In fact the thought, "Next. His Loss!" Would have been more likely to have been your overiding thought then that any tragedy had happened; if you had never heard from him after your first date. So return to that state (just for a little bit ) and enjoy life. The world really will keep on spinning without his presence. If you don't follow this advice, and instead choose to call him several times a day, then you will end up bugging him like crazy and may end up causing him to block your number. Not what you want! So play it cool.
